The Oconto Falls and Wittenberg-Birnamwood boys golf teams each qualified for sectionals after placing in the top four at the Division 2 Amherst Regional on May 22 at Glacier Woods Golf Club in Iola.

Oconto Falls placed third with a total score of 368, while Witt-Birn was fourth with a mark of 372.

Menominee Indian/Gresham placed 10th as a team with a mark of 510. The co-op also did not have any individual golfers advance to sectionals.

Oconto Falls was led on the course by Kadyn Riel, who tallied an 18-hole round of 85.

Trevor Metzler and Caden Leonhardt each carded rounds of 93 for the Panthers. Mathew Behnke (97) and Cy Vizelka (98) rounded out the five-golfer team.

“Feels great — senior year and lots of work put in lead to success. Can’t complain at all,” said Metzler. “Hopefully the team can get on a roll and keep it going during sectionals.”

Joey Seegmiller and Dylan Resch led Witt-Birn in Iola with rounds of 86.

Owen Schultz fired a 97 for the Chargers. August Barke (103) and George Seegmiller (109) filled out the team.

“We are more than happy to be moving on to sectionals,” said Resch. “We were also very surprised to have placed fourth at our regional. None of our team really shot a great round.

Oconto Falls and Witt-Birn will compete next at the Wrightstown Sectional on May 30, with teams opening play at 9 a.m.

Gryffin Hoffman led the Menominee Indian/Gresham co-op with a round of 117. Cierra Ninham (129), Jefferson Hoffman (131), Kaidyen Zaitz (133) and Porter Hoffman (142) were the other four golfers for the co-op.
