After being locked down in 2020, the Oconto Falls Memorial Day Weekend Celebration is back in full force Friday through Monday, May 28-31.

The traditional Memorial Day veterans ceremony returns at 10 a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Cemetery, followed by the 12:30 p.m. parade featuring grand marshal Barb Salscheider and a 1960s theme.

Events and activities will be centered at Memorial Field all weekend, including the Christman Amusements carnival, food stands sponsored by the Oconto Falls Lions Club and Oconto Falls High School FFA and a modified-pitch softball tournament.

The sixth annual Dash O.F. Color 5K run/walk sponsored by the Oconto Falls Lioness Club launches at 9 a.m. Saturday. Live music featuring Sonic Circus is scheduled for 7-11 a.m. Saturday, with a fireworks display at dusk (rain day for fireworks is Sunday).

The Oconto Falls Sno Jokers, who have taken over the general organization of the celebration this year, are hosting the annual “Show-N-Shine” car show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, free to spectators with a $10 entry fee per show vehicle. In addition to trophies, a special prize will be awarded for best 1960s attire, and a disc jockey will be playing through the day.

A bean bag tournament is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday.

Local Boy Scouts are asking parade spectators to bring a canned food item to Monday’s parade. They plan to pick up the canned goods along the parade route, with donations to support the Kingdom Come Food Pantry.
