Oconto Falls enjoys big showing at home track and field meet

Suring, Lena, Gillett athletes also turn in strong finishes

The Oconto Falls High School track and field teams turned in several strong individual finishes during an indoor meet on March 21 in Oconto Falls.

Suring, Lena and Gillett also were part of the seven-team meet, with each team posting its own share of top finishes.

Oconto Falls

Oconto Falls individuals and relay teams racked up 17 first-place finishes on the night.

Hannah Ludemann, Brooke Hodkiewicz, Ava Hodkiewicz and Hailey Delzer formed a top-finishing girls relay team, while Delzer, Brynn Hodkiewicz, Ava Hodkiewicz and Maddy Przybylski formed another.

Brooke Hodkiewicz won the 1,600-meter run in 5 minutes, 54.9 seconds, with Ludemann taking second in 6:22.9. Przybylski was the top finisher in the 800 (2:53.7), while Brynn Hodkiewicz was first in the 400 (1:13.9) and Mackenzie Lotto was third in 1:15.2.

Morgan Moynihan won the shot put with a top toss of 32 feet, 2 inches. Teammate Grace Molitor was third with a mark of 30-8.

Oconto Falls claimed the top-three spots in the triple jump. Abby Budz won it with a leap of 28-7¼. Lotto was second with a mark of 27-1¾, while Delzer was third with a jump of 26-7.

Bailee Gorman was the top finisher in the 200 (30.7), with Hailyn St. Louis in third in 32.1. St. Louis finished the 45-yard dash in 6 seconds to tie for first. Anna Spaulding tied for third in the 45 (6.1).

Brailyn St. Louis was the second-place finisher in the 50-yard hurdles (8.2). Hailyn St. Louis was second in the long jump (13-9½), while Tyra Galbraith finished third with a leap of 13-8½.

Hailyn St. Louis, Galbraith, Amber Haines and Chloe Arneson formed a second-place finishing relay.

On the boys side of things, Ben Adams won the 1,600 in 5:12.7. He joined Brant Laluzerne, Kolton Krueger and Braxton Rajkovich on a top-finishing relay.

Alex Haines won the high jump after clearing 5-4, while Devon Dorm posted a mark of 19-7 to win the long jump. Brady Bursa was second in the long jump (18-2) and won the triple jump (36-2½).

Haines, Laluzerne, Evan Yuma and Carter Hill formed another top-finishing relay, as did Dorn, Yuma, Conner Wilquet and Isaac Bramer.

Bramer won the 200 in 26.2 seconds, with Nick Allen in second in 26.7 seconds. Wilquet grabbed second in the 45 dash (5.3), while Rajkovich was second in the 800 (2:45) and Haines was second in the 50-yard hurdles (7.8).

Mitch Kallies earned second in the shot put (41-0½), while Bryce Schefdore took third with a toss of 40-5½.

Lena

The Wildcats earned four first-place finishes during the indoor meet.

One of those top finishes was by Dylan Comins in the boys 400 (59.8). Sidney Sylvester took second in the event in 1:01.6, while Sam Marquardt was third in 1:01.9.

Erik Kosch was the top finisher in the 800 (2:36). Anthony Seefeldt won the shot put (43-0).

Eva Brooks earned the top finish in the girls long jump after a top leap of 14-5. She also finished second in the high jump (5-2) and 400 (1:14.7).

Back on the boys side of things, Comins was second in the pole vault (9-0). Placing third was Marquardt in the 45 (5.4) and Zach Diedrich in the 50-yard hurdles (8.4).

Kaelyn Cook tied for third in the girls 45 (6.1). She was also on a third-place finishing relay with Claire Brooks, Karli Fischer and Annabelle Smith.

Suring

Suring won three events on the night, with Christine Sleeter winning two to lead the Eagles.

Sleeter won the girls high jump after clearing 5-4 and pole vault after clearing 8-6.

Trent VanDenElzen had Suring’s other top finish, winning the 50-yard hurdles in 7.5 seconds. He grabbed third in the high jump (5-2).

Back on the girls side, Birdee Cramer, Georgia Gerndt, Ginger Gerndt and Tessa Losurdo teamed up for a second-place finish on a relay team.

Morgan Suring finished second in the 800 (3:22.6), while Kaylee Otradovec was third in the 50-yard hurdles (8.7).

Garret Peters, Quinn Thomson, Trent Thomson and VanDenElzen teamed up for a second-place finish in a boys relay.

Gillett

Gillett did not earn any top finishes, but did have a few individuals place in the top three.

Cheyenne Krueger earned the team’s top finish after claiming second in the girls pole vault (7-6). Grace Simpson placed third after clearing 6-6.

Placing third for the boys was Ben Matczak in the pole vault (8-6) and Bradin Bjelland in the triple jump (33-2½).
