Oconto Falls Legion baseball player Tucker Bouche was recently named to the All-Academic Team by The American Legion and the recipient of a pair of scholarships.

Bouche was named the Wisconsin state winner of a $500 scholarship. He then had his application reviewed by the World Series Scholarship Committee and was named the Central Plains winner, giving Bouche another $2,500 scholarship.

He was one of eight players in the country to receive a $2,500 scholarship.

“I learned about receiving the $2,500 national academic scholarship from my parents, who were contacted by Jim Davis,” said Bouche. “Initially I was stunned, because receiving the state award was unbelievable, but then to be one of eight people in the nation to receive this generous award left me beyond thankful! It’s so cool to be given this award after spending so much time in Legion baseball and building so many great friendships.

“Lastly, I would like to thank Terry Umentum with American Legion Post 302, Jen Swanson with the Wisconsin American Legion and Jim Davis, the VP Chairman of the American Legion Committee on Youth Education.”

The All-Academic Team was announced during the American Legion World Series on Aug. 13.

To be eligible for the scholarships, Bouche was nominated by his post-affiliated team manager or head coach.
