Myrtle V. James

Myrtle V. James, 99, of Shawano, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021. Myrtle was born Jan. 7, 1922, to the late Albert and Amanda (Reinke) Voelz in Tilleda. She graduated from Bowler High School. Myrtle was united in marriage to Alfred DeBra, who preceded her in death, in 1950. She later married Emry James, who preceded her in death, in 1966.

Myrtle was a hostess at King Cole and The Inn in Dayton, Ohio. She returned to Shawano in 1992. She worked at K-Mart and the Dollar Tree in Shawano. Myrtle also enjoyed volunteering her time at the Shawano Senior Center. She enjoyed playing cards, worldly travel with her niece, Janet, crafting, ballroom dancing and gardening. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Myrtle is survived by a daughter, JoAnn (Allen) Fehrman, of Tilleda; a son, Bob (Cindee) James, of Embarrass; three grandchildren, Kerry Danley, Nathan (Mandy) James and Travis (Elesha) James; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Marvin, Albert “Nookie” and LeRoy Voelz; two sisters, Grace Sabatke and Ruth Ashenbrenner Kuhn; her husbands; and a grandson, Douglas Fehrman.

A funeral service for Myrtle will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2021, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Pastor Lois Graper officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
