Rex, the missing American alligator from Doc’s Harley-Davidson, was found in the swampy wooded area next to the complex around 5 p.m. on May 24.

The alligator was found safe by Doc’s son, Steve Hopkins.

Rex had recently been missing since May 22.

According to Kersten Heling, general manager of Doc’s Harley-Davidson, Rex has been a part of Doc’s Harley-Davidson for the last 35 years.

“Rex is like part of the family,” said Heling.

In a written statement, representatives of Doc’s Harley-Davidson wrote, “We cannot confirm or deny exactly how the alligator came to be missing. Rex is very docile and is not a danger to the public.”

The written statement also explained that Doc’s has been a welcoming place to alligators for over 30 years.

“Doc’s Harley-Davidson has been providing sanctuary and long-term care to other’s unwanted pet alligators for over 30 years,” according to the statement.
