Kurey leads Bonduel girls to 2nd place at conference meet

Bonduel High School's Ashlyn Kurey turned in a third-place individual finish to lead the girls team to second place at the Central Wisconsin Conference Meet on Oct. 12 in Stevens Point.

Kurey completed the course in 20 minutes, 59.3 seconds. The Bonduel girls finished behind only Amherst. Individual runners from Wittenberg-Birnamwood and Marion also competed in the girls race.

On the boys side, the Bonduel boys came in fifth. Pacelli ended up taking first. Witt-Birn was seventh, while Menominee Indian took ninth. Individual runners from Marion and Gresham/Bowler were also in action.

Following Kurey to the finish line for Bonduel was Kendra Troxel and Teagan Engel. Troxel took eighth in 21:48.2, while Engel was ninth in 21:50.5.

Joselyn Bohm (23:11.7) claimed 19th for the Bears, while Kaitlin Brooks (24:17.6) capped the team score with a 26th-place finish.

Four Witt-Birn girls runners competed, with Ruby Nowinsky's 17th-place finish in 23:05 leading the way. Annika Resch (23:54.7) was 22nd, while Ava Hegewald (29:43) took 53rd and Amelia Bessert (31:12.5) 56th.

Four runners from Marion also took part in the girls race, with Bridget Much leading the way with a 45th-place finish in 27:47.5. Gracie Grogan (31:47.9), Peytra Bailey (32:01) and Kelsey Zillmer (32:13) took 57th, 58th and 59th, respectively.

Cooper Uelmen (18:19.8) and Ben O'Brien (18:32.6) led the Bonduel boys with ninth- and 11th-place finishes, respectively.

Race Anvelink (20:11.7) placed 32nd, Ayden Dusnt (20:16.3) 34th and Ben Reisner (23:03.1) 57th to cap the five-runner team.

Simon Schairer snagged eighth place with a time of 18:19.1 to lead the Witt-Birn boys.

Craig Wendel finished 21st in 19:12, while Mason Meverden was 29th in 19:47.8. Ian Salvesen (21:54.8) finished 49th and Owen Schultz (22:03.6) 51st to cap the Chargers' team score.

Isaiah Moss led the Menominee Indian boys team with a 23rd-place finish in 19:19.6. Lloyd Reevis was 31st with a time of 20:02.2, while Barron Waupoose was 33rd in 20:16.

Francis Delabrau (20:28.8) and Darus Davis (21:25.5) filled out the team score for the Eagles by placing 37th and 44th, respectively.

Two Marion runners competed in the boys race. Jaden Stuhr took 40th in 20:43.3, while Jackson Krohn was 63rd in 23:57.4.

Bryson Nelson represented the Gresham/Bowler co-op, taking 48th in the boys race in 21:51.
