Kid’s fishing day at Finnegan Lake on June 5

The Finnegan Lake Walleye Club is sponsoring a kid’s fishing day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at Finnegan Lake in Gillett, in conjunction with the State of Wisconsin’s free fishing weekend.

The event is open to kids 12 and under. Each participant should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The plan is to offer free hot dogs, hamburgers and soda for the participants and their chaperones throughout the day. Prizes will be handed out to the participants when they arrive and register at the lake. The final prize drawings will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the boat landing on Finnegan Lake. Participants must be present to win.

The event will be held rain or shine. The club will have pontoon boats for the kids and parents to ride on and fish from throughout the day.

The club reminds each participant to bring a life jacket for personal safety, a lawn chair, a fishing pole and a parent or guardian with whom to enjoy the day. The club would also like to remind everyone that the land around Finnegan Lake is private. Please respect this by picking up any garbage that you might see, whether it is yours or someone else’s, and please do not trespass. There will be no swimming allowed during the event.
