SOFTBALL

Witt-Birn 4

Amherst 2

Wittenberg-Birnamwood doubled up Amherst in a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division battle May 25 in Wittenberg.

Jasmin Duranceau earned the win in the circle after working around 10 hits and a pair of walks. Only one of the runs she allowed was earned.

McKenna Metropulos had two hits and a RBI to lead the Chargers at the plate. Emma Herb, McKenna Foster, Abi Fraaza and Emily Niles scored the team's runs.

Fraaza, Foster and Herb all stole a base.

Shawano 13

Xavier 0 (4 inn.)

Shawano eased to a Bay Conference victory over Xavier on May 25 in Appleton, with the pitching duo of Taylor Johnson and Braylyn Babino combining to hold Xavier hitless.

Johnson, Naomi Wynos, Brianna Wright and Margo Gull all tallied two hits for Shawano.

BASEBALL

Marion 5

Gillett/Suring 1

Marion picked up a nonconference win over Gillett/Suring on May 25 in Marion.

Marion's Alex Zimmerman, Ryan Malueg, Nick Malueg and Andy Faehling teamed up to shut down the Gillett/Suring bats, allowing just one hit in the contest. Ryan Malueg earned the win after striking out four batters across two innings. Zimmerman also struck out four in four innings, while Nick Malueg had five strikeouts in two innings.

Carter Goke drove in two runs for Marion, while Zimmerman, Myles Peterson and Ryan Malueg all added one RBI.

Gresham 6

Bowler 5

Gresham earned a walk-off win over Bowler during a May 25 CWC-North clash in Gresham.

Belasaire Vele grounded a ball to the right side of the infield, allowing teammate Wesley Thiex to score from third for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Bowler scored three runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game.

Vele and Austin Sperberg each scored twice for Gresham, while Corbin Welch got the final three outs in the top of the seventh to earn the win. Lukas Pecore struck out seven batters across 5 1/3 innings before Jack Haffner and Vele also spent time on the hill.

Logan Thiex took the loss for Bowler after working six-plus innings, striking out eight along the way. He and Lane Schultz each scored two runs, while Schultz had two hits to lead the team.

Amherst 2

Witt-Birn 0

Witt-Birn was limited to one hit in a CWC-East setback to Amherst on May 25 in Wittenberg.

Mason Meverden had the team's hit. Austin Worzalla and Austin Rekow each reached base after walking.

Worzalla was dealt the loss after pitching all seven innings. He struck out one batter while surrendering one walk and seven hits.

Shawano fell short in a Bay match against Xavier on May 25 in Appleton.

Carson Cummings earned Shawano's win in No. 4 singles play.

Shawano surrendered three second-half goals in a Bay loss to Seymour on May 25 in Seymour.

Brynlie Boyles made 22 saves while defending the net for Shawano.
