BASEBALL

Shawano 12

Aidan Berry threw a one-hit shutout to guide Shawano to a Bay Conference win over Green Bay East/West on May 24 in Shawano.

Berry struck out two batters while walking just one. He needed just 54 pitches to get through five innings.

Zac Jurmu tallied three hits and three RBIs while also scoring twice to lead the Hawks at the plate. Zach Erdmann had two hits and two RBIs, while Ashton Henning had two hits and two runs scored. Berry also scored twice.

Henning and Jurmu stole two bases each.

Witt-Birn 9

Bonduel 4

Wittenberg-Birnamwood used a six-run fourth inning to take down Bonduel in a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division clash on May 24 in Bonduel. Witt-Birn was hit by two pitches, had three hits and drew four walks in the big inning.

Austin Worzalla drove in three runs for Witt-Birn, while Austin Rekow added two hits and two RBIs. Bryce Zoromski had three hits and scored three runs.

Rekow pitched three innings and allowed two runs to earn the win. Quinn Schultz worked the other four innings.

Jack Johnson had three hits for Bonduel, while Noah Weier added two hits. The Bears left 12 runners on base. Cole Anderson was dealt the loss after pitching 3 2/3 innings.

Bowler 13

Gresham 1 (5 inn.)

Bowler cruised to a CWC-North victory over Gresham on May 24 in Bowler. The hosts scored 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Brock Strassburg scored two runs and posted three hits and three RBIs to lead Bowler at the plate. Adin Brei scored twice while driving in three runs on two hits, while Lane Schultz had two hits and two runs scored. Tully Kroening and Logan Thiex each scored twice.

Lane Schultz worked the first 4 2/3 innings to earn the win on the mound, striking out eight batters along the way. Thiex got the final out of the contest.

Blade Hoffman and Austin Sperberg each had hits for Gresham.

Shawano rolled to a nonconference win over Fox Valley Lutheran on May 24 in Shawano.

Leo Liu (No. 1), Camden Kroll (No. 2), Carson Cummings (No. 3) and Joe Mente (No. 4) earned singles wins for the Hawks. Nolan Buck and Rory Johnson (No. 1), Tristan Szucs and Josh Bergmann (No. 2) and Nathan Edwards and William Myers (No. 3) had the doubles wins for Shawano.
