SOFTBALL

Witt-Birn 6

Westfield 5

Top-seeded Wittenberg-Birnamwood held on late for a Division 3 regional title win over fifth-seeded Westfield on June 16 in Wittenberg.

Witt-Birn will battle Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division foe Amherst on June 21 in a sectional semifinal contest in Wittenberg.

Abi Fraaza, McKenna Metropulos, Amara Schoepke and Kiara Deruchowski all drove in a run for the Chargers, while Schoepke led the team with two hits. Kaylee Schram had a hit and drew two walks, while McKenna Foster scored twice.

Jasmin Duranceau pitched all seven innings to pick up the win in the circle. She surrendered eight hits but didn't walk a batter. Only three of the runs she allowed were earned.

Lux-Casco 8

Shawano 0

Sixth-seeded Shawano couldn't get its bats going in a Division 2 regional final against second-seeded Luxemburg-Casco on June 16 in Luxemburg.

Shawano, which finished the year with a 12-8 record, managed just four hits in the contest.

BASEBALL

Rhinelander 5

Shawano 4 (9 inn.)

Top-seeded Shawano rallied to tie second-seeded Rhinelander in the sixth inning, but eventually was defeated in nine innings of a Division 2 regional title game June 16 in Shawano.

Rhinelander scored three runs in the first frame before another run in the second. Shawano tied the game with four runs in the sixth. The Hawks had a chance to tie it in the bottom of the ninth, but stranded a runner on third.

Andrew Popp delivered a three-run double in the sixth for Shawano. Zach Erdmann had the team's other RBI. Brandan Bushy reached base four times, posting one hit and drawing three walks.

Aidan Berry started for the Hawks and got four outs before being replaced by Joey Sperberg, who ended up pitching 7⅓ innings. Sperberg was tagged with the loss, but struck out 10 batters during his time on the bump. Bushy got the final out in the ninth.

Three Lakes/Phelps 3

Bowler 1

Second-seeded Bowler came up short in a Division 4 regional final against top-seeded Three Lakes/Phelps on June 16 in Three Lakes.

Bowler's run came in the seventh when Ashwuut Mohawk singled in Logan Thiex. Brock Strassburg led the Panthers with two hits. All seven of the team's hits were singles.

Beau Brunner, Sterling Schreiber III and Thiex all reached base twice, with a single and a walk each.

Thiex suffered the loss on the mound after pitching all six innings. He struck out nine batters while allowing eight hits and two walks.
