WRESTLING

Shawano 39

Menasha 28

Shawano knocked off Menasha in a battle of two undefeated Bay Conference teams on Jan. 24 in Menasha.

Connor Chelberg got Shawano started strong at 182 pounds with a pin in 3 minutes, 59 seconds. Mason Theis followed that up with a 4-2 decision win at 195 pounds.

After dropping three straight weight classes, Shawano's Dane Hodkiewicz earned a 13-3 major decision win at 113 pounds.

After two more losses, Shawano ended the night by taking five of the final six weight classes. Kody Popelka (132), Drake Herm (138) and Carsen Herm (152) earned pins. Popelka got his pin in 3:42, while Drake Herm earned his in 24 seconds and Carsen Herm in 37 seconds. Dylan Hodkiewicz (145) earned a 9-5 decision win and Caden Young (170) capped the night with a 19-3 technical fall win.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Witt-Birn 60

Amherst 51

Wittenberg-Birnamwood took down Amherst in a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division matchup on Jan. 24 in Wittenberg.

Michael Miller hit seven 3-pointers and scored 21 points to pace Witt-Birn offensively.

Mason Meverden added 13 points for the Chargers. Keegan Schmid chipped in nine points, while Jett Rogowski had eight.

Shawano 61

Menasha 46

Shawano earned a Bay Conference win over Menasha on Jan. 24 in Shawano.

Michael Metcalf-Grassman hit four 3-pointers and led Shawano with 23 points.

Jacob Landon tallied 12 points on four 3-pointers for the Hawks, while Logan Sipple had 10. Brandon Reed added nine points, while Deacon Carroll had the other seven.

Gillett 73

Wausaukee 46

Gillett eased past Wausaukee in a Marinette & Oconto Conference game on Jan. 24 in Gillett.

Jesse DeBauch buried three 3-pointers and led Gillett in scoring with 22 points.

Aydin Franti added 16 points for the Tigers, while Ben Matczak had three 3-pointers and 15 points. Austin VandeCorput contributed 11 points.

Tigerton 47

Tigerton was outscored 42-24 in the second half of a nonconference loss to Northeast Wisconsin Christian Homeschoolers Athletic Association on Jan. 24 in Tigerton.

Colby Wanta totaled 13 points and three assists for Tigerton, while Ryder Graham had 11 points and six rebounds.

Maverick Maas finished with 10 points and three steals for the Tigers. Asher Michaelis posted nine points, six boards and three assists.

Fox Valley Lutheran 81

Oconto Falls 38

Oconto Falls couldn't slow Fox Valley Lutheran in a North Eastern Conference game on Jan. 24 in Appleton.

Caden Birr scored eight points to lead Oconto Falls on the offensive end.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bonduel 75

Menominee Indian 46

Bonduel remained atop the CWC-East with a convincing win over Menominee Indian on Jan. 24 in Bonduel.

Audrey Weier scored 20 points to power Bonduel. Hailey Zernicke added 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

Ella Hischke dished out five assists for the Bears.

Menominee Indian was paced by Kaysha Wilber's 16 points.

Witt-Birn 49

Shiocton 41

Witt-Birn held off Shiocton in a CWC-East battle on Jan. 24 in Shiocton.

Rory Salvesen made three 3-pointers and led Witt-Birn with 16 points. Reese Rogowski tallied 13 points, four steals and four assists.

Melaina Granquist posted nine points and 10 boards for the Chargers.

Gresham 59

Northland Lutheran 41

Gresham created some cushion in the CWC-North standings after topping Northland Lutheran on Jan. 24 in Gresham.

Gresham remained perfect in conference play, and now is at least two games up on every other team.

Maddie Haffner knocked down five 3-pointers in the first half and led Gresham with 19 points. Lexi Baddmoccosin-Barnes added 11 points, while Janay Pecore-Kirkland had nine and Chloe Bohl seven.

Rylie Kakwitch had five steals for Gresham, while Haffner had three steals and 10 rebounds. Josie Cerveny recorded 10 boards, while Bohl had nine.

Suring 56

STAA 7

Suring rolled to an M&O win over St. Thomas Aquinas Academy on Jan. 24 in Suring.

Emily Peterson scored 13 points to lead Suring on the offensive end. Mackenzie Bailey added 11 points, 12 rebounds and four assists.

Birdee Cramer tallied seven points for the Eagles, while Christine Sleeter had six points and seven boards. Bunny Cramer had six points and four assists.

Emma Kristof pulled down eight rebounds for Suring. Hailey VanRens had seven boards, while Tessa Losurdo dished out four assists and Macie Reed had three steals.

Tigerton fell to Northeast Wisconsin Christian Homeschoolers Athletic Association on Jan. 24 in Tigerton.

Abby Swartz tallied five points and six rebounds for Tigerton. Lillian Welch grabbed nine boards.

Bowler 46

Marion 27

Bowler knocked off Marion in a CWC-North matchup on Jan. 24 in Bowler.

Bowler's Paige Treptow led all scorers with 12 points. Ava Paiser added 10 points, while Natalie Rickert had nine.

Marion's Dacotah Yonker tallied seven points. Alexis Roe and Morgan Krueger had six points each.
