The Gresham/Bowler track and field co-op took first in seven events during the Central Wisconsin Conference-Small Division Conference Meet on May 13 in Plainfield.

The Gresham/Bowler boys placed third as a team with a score of 95.

The Gresham/Bowler girls took fourth with 111 points. Marion claimed eighth with five points and Tigerton had four points to place ninth.

Emmitt Kietlinski led the Gresham/Bowler boys with top finishes in the long jump and high jump. He posted a top leap of 19 feet, 6¾ inches in the long jump and cleared 6-6 in the high jump. He also took second in the triple jump with a mark of 41-11.

“One of my goals at the start of the season was to be a conference champion in at least two of the jumping events,” said Kietlinski. “Improving my technique, particularly in the high jump, has helped accomplish that goal. Having tied the 32-year conference high jump record is one of the highlights of my prep career so far.”

Bryson Nelson had two top-three finishes for the boys co-op. He was first in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12 minutes, 12.47 seconds and claimed third in the 1,600 in 5:34.47.

Kellen Pingel placed second in the discus (118 feet) for the Gresham/Bowler boys. Taking third was Edward Castellanos in the 3,200 (13:07.17), Jackson Pingel in the shot put (36-11½) and Zach Ziemer in the discus (114-2).

Three Gresham/Bowler girls relay teams placed first. Hannah Cerveny, Willow Demaskie, Valarie Cerveny and Ireland Jensen teamed up for first in the 4x100 relay (56.43 seconds). Jemy Reedy joined Hannah Cerveny, Demaskie and Jensen on the 4x200 relay that took first in 2:00.43.

Josie Cerveny, Maddie Haffner, Hazel Tepiew and Camille Gourley formed the top-finishing 4x800 relay (12:48.71).

Valarie Cerveny won the girls shot put with a throw of 34-2. She claimed third in the high jump (4-7).

“My conference title in the shot put means a lot to me. It’s one of my goals I’ve always had, and I’m so grateful to be able to accomplish it,” said Valarie Cerveny.

Josie Cerveny took third in the 3,200 (14:47.73).

Demaskie, Gourley, Tepiew and Danica Peters formed the third-place finishing 4x400 relay (5:30.66).

“Having three relay teams place first was so exciting,” said Valarie Cerveny. “They had a lot of energy and wanted to go after it and win, and that’s exactly what they did. It was fun to watch.”

The Marion girls only took part in two events. Peytra Bailey, Lily Wudstrack, Hailey Meister and Bridget Much had the top finish for the team after placing sixth in the 4x100 relay (1:07.14).

Mary Kreklow turned in Tigerton’s top finish at the meet. She placed sixth in the 3,200 (15:58.02).
