Get your fill of apples at Taste of Tigerton
Whether it’s for the crisp autumn air or the bite of a delicious apple, area residents are invited to Tigerton on Sept. 28 for the annual celebration that features the fruit in all its glory.
From whole apples to pies to cider, there’s something for everyone at the Taste of Tigerton Applefest at Legion Park, 236 Pine St., Tigerton.
“It’s a way for the community to gather and share in that fellowship and get a little shopping done, too,” said Jon Knaup, manager of Tigerton Main Street, the event sponsor. “They usually plan for about 300 people to attend.”
Knaup said the event will also feature bucket raffles, crafters and vendors, live music, face painting and an apple pie contest.
The crafters and vendors are mostly local residents, and booths will feature a variety of merchandise including food, handmade crafts, a Scentsy dealer, an author with her books, jewelry, crocheted items, woodworking, a window display and Christmas ornaments.
“The American Legion Auxiliary will also have a raffle,” Knaup said. “Proceeds from the food that will be offered will benefit the organizations selling it.”
Applefest will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Scott Wuske Band will perform from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tigerton has been a Wisconsin Main Street Community since 1993.
Resident Lee Kreklow has been involved with the group since 1994. He joined as a member of the original promotion committee and today is the chairman of the committee.
“I have been on and off more active and less active in Main Street through the years, depending on how busy I was at the time or how I was doing health-wise,” he said. “It gives me the opportunity to give back to this community and to hopefully make a difference in it.”
The first Taste of Tigerton Applefest was held in 2010.
