George Whalen

George Thomas Whalen passed away peacefully in his Florida home on Jan. 27, 2021, after a short illness.

George was born to George and Carol Whalen on March 6, 1939. He graduated from West Allis High School in 1957. George was married to Annette Luisier on July 27, 1963, and remained married until she passed away on Dec. 22, 2009.

On March 26, 2011, he married Sharon Stone. Sharon and George were snowbirds and enjoyed winters in Rotonda West, Florida, and summers on the Machickanee Flowage in Stiles, Wisconsin.

George worked for many years in the printing industry, and retired from Castle-Pierce Printing Company in Oshkosh.

George had many talents. He was a very handy man. There was never a project too large or too small for him, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed his beer.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Sharon; his sons David (Kay), Rick (Valerie), his daughter Jennifer (Don) Weber, his stepdaughters Julie (Brian) Nelsen and Jodie Czarnecki, his grandchildren Amanda, Drew, Ricky, Ross and Ryan (Melissa) Whalen, Tyler Winton, Zachery Weber, Lauren (Taylor) Jacobson, Spencer Nelsen, his great-grandson Killian, his brother Robert Whalen, and his in-laws Larry and Erma Luisier, Nancy Moes, Fred and Sally Witt, Ken and Yvonne Myers, Barb Baugnet, Tom and Cheryl Luiser, as well as his nephews and nieces and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gary and brother-in-law Tom Moes and joined by his brother-in-law Greg Baugnet.

Visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 501 S. Main St., Oconto Falls, on May 27, 2021, from 4 to 6 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m.
