Finance director announces retirement
Lisa Sherman, Oconto County’s longtime finance director, has announced she plans to retire in February.
Sherman’s retirement letter was read to supervisors at the county board’s regular monthly meeting Nov. 21. Her last day of employment will be Feb. 3.
“It is with mixed feelings that I would like to announce my upcoming retirement,” Sherman said. “Words cannot express how thankful I am to have served the citizens of Oconto County for the past 35-plus years.”
She thanked her coworkers, as well as all of the county board supervisors she has worked with, for their support and kindness over the years, and she said she will assist the board and County Administrator Richard Heath in any way she can during the transition to a new finance director.
County Board Chairman Al Sleeter said Sherman has always been invaluable in her role, which includes preparing the annual budget. She was tabbed to serve as interim county administrator earlier this year after former administrator Erik Pritzl departed and before Heath arrived at the end of April.
“She truly is a beam of light and hope in this county,” Sleeter said. “She’s always been very good at her job and easy to talk to and deal with.”
The county has posted the finance director opening, saying the position “directs and coordinates the overall planning, organizing, directing and controlling of the countywide financial and accounting functions,” with “the direct responsibility of county financial reports, consolidation of information and investments.” The annual salary range is listed as $104,032.50 to $107,211.
