Donald L. Herms

Donald L. Herms, 87, of Cecil, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. Donald was born on July 26, 1933, to the late Melvin and Emma (Giese) Herms in the Town of Green Valley. On June 16, 1956, Don was united in marriage to Doris Schroeder at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gillett.

Don was a hardworking and dedicated dairy farmer in the Town of Green Valley. He served on the board of directors for the Green Valley Co-op. Don was also a volunteer fireman and served on the board of directors for the Green Valley Fire Department. He and Doris were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church where Don served as church sexton and played dartball. He and Doris loved to dance, especially polka dancing. In 1995, they sold the farm and moved to Marion where Don continued to farm, helping Kenny Przybylski.

He also enjoyed spending time with his friends T.J., Tim, and Sonny Nolan, taking rides to look at real estate and taking fishing trips. In Marion, Don and Doris joined Immanuel Lutheran Church. In Don’s free time, he enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. He enjoyed watching westerns, the Brewers, and the Packers. More than anything,. Don loved his family and cherished every moment he was able to spend with them. Don was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and he will be deeply missed.

Donald is survived by children, Marsha (Steve) Naumann, Brenda Treankler, Lisa (Dennis) Pederson, and Kevin Herms; grandchildren, Andrea (Jesse) Reyment, Brent (fiancé Tiffany Krueger) Naumann, Justin (Terra) Naumann, Travis Naumann, Jeremy (Melissa) Pederson, Jacki Pederson, Erin (Robyn) Treankler, Brock (Kylee) Treankler, Keaton Herms, and Kinzie Herms; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Megan, Nolan, Tyson, Nina, Nora, Cana, Jaxson, and Wesley; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Herms; a granddaughter, Ashten Treankler; his parents; and siblings, Jean Mayer, Roger Herms, John Herms, Lucille Herms, and Robert Herms.

A memorial service for Donald will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at the Swedberg Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel with the Rev. John Laatsch officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.

Donald’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Donald’s neighbors, Joe, Mike, and Lee for everything they did for Donald. They would also like to thank the wonderful nurses at ThedaCare at Home Hospice for the wonderful care.
