Recent proceedings in Shawano-Menominee County Circuit Court:
— Roy R. House, 29, of Keshena, was charged Oct. 17 with felony counts of possession of narcotic drugs and possession of methamphetamine. He could face a maximum 3 1/2 years in prison and $10,000 fine on each count if convicted. House was ordered held on a $500 cash bond set by Judge James Habeck and is due back in court for an adjourned initial appearance Nov. 11.
— Benjamin Menchaca, 43, of Shawano, was sentenced by Judge James Habeck Oct. 15 to a year in county jail as a condition of three years’ probation on felony counts of taking and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent and criminal damage to property. A sentence of two years in prison and two years’ extended supervision was imposed and stayed. Menchaca pleaded guilty to both counts.
— Andrew C. Welch, 21, of Antigo, was sentenced by Judge James Habeck Oct. 15 to eight months in county jail as a condition of 30 months’ probation on felony counts of burglary and operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent. A sentence of two years in prison and two years’ extended supervision was imposed and stayed. Welch pleaded no contest to the charges.
— Randy J. Steinhoff, 38, of Shawano, was charged Oct. 15 with three felony counts of bail jumping and three misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine on each of the felony counts if convicted. He was ordered held on a $1,000 cash bond set by Judge William Kussel, Jr. His next court date was not set.
— Nathan Pogrant, 36, of Eland, was charged Oct. 14 with two felony counts of child abuse, six felony counts of false imprisonment, a felony count of causing mental harm to a child, two felony counts of bail jumping and one felony count of second or subsequent possession of marijuana. He faces a potential 12 1/2 years in prison and a $25,000 fine for causing mental harm to a child. He faces a maximum possible sentence of six years in prison and a $10,000 fine on each count of physical abuse of a child-intentionally causing bodily harm, physical abuse of a child-recklessly causing bodily harm, false imprisonment and bail jumping. The felony drug count carries a maximum 3 1/2 years and a $10,000 fine. He was ordered held on a $25,000 cash bond set by Judge William Kussel, Jr. and is scheduled for an adjourned initial appearance Nov. 11.
