College Highlights (March 24)

UW-River Falls

Shawano Community High School graduate Jewel Waupekenay played in all eight of the UW-River Falls softball team’s games last week.

Waupekenay was hit by a pitch in a win over Wisconsin Lutheran on March 13 and walked in a loss to Carthage on March 14. She drove in a run on a hit in a win over Plymouth State on March 14.

Waupekenay had a hit and drew a walk in a setback to Mount St. Joseph on March 16. She delivered a hit and stole a base in a loss to Carroll on March 16.

The Shawano grad drove in three runs on two doubles and also scored in a lopsided win over Bowdoin on March 17. She had a hit and walk and scored once in a loss to Springfield on March 17.

UW-La Crosse

Oconto Falls grad Tucker Bouche got two outs while pitching during the UW-La Crosse baseball team’s loss to Coe College on March 15.

Bouche induced a flyout that turned into a double play.

St. Mary’s University of Minnesota

Shawano graduate Peyton Buerman suffered an injury during the St. Mary’s University women’s tennis team’s dual loss to Concordia-Moorhead on March 18.

Buerman and Kara Hand lost 8-4 at No. 3 doubles. Buerman won the first set of her No. 5 singles match, but had to retire after a knee injury.

St. Norbert College

Bowler grad Logan Thiex pitched during the St. Norbert baseball team’s loss to Stockton on March 13.

Thiex allowed a hit and run and did not record an out.

Pulaski grad Emma Wiese pitched 1⅔ innings in the St. Norbert softball team’s loss to UW-Stout on March 16.

Wiese allowed six hits and five runs (four earned) during her time in the circle.

Wisconsin Lutheran College

Pulaski graduate Connor Heezen was a part of two No. 2 doubles wins while playing for the Wisconsin Lutheran men’s tennis team last week.

Heezen and playing partner Josh Hennen won 8-0 against Concordia-Chicago on March 18. Heezen and Hennen then won 8-4 against Concordia on March 19.

UW-Stevens Point

Pulaski grad Gabrielle DeCleene got one at-bat during the UW-Stevens Point softball team’s loss to Tufts on March 20.

DeCleene has a .286 average so far in her freshman season.

Concordia University

Oconto Falls graduate Katelyn Albrecht played in two of the Concordia softball team’s games last week.

Albrecht had two at-bats in a win over Dickinson on March 13. She had one at-bat in a loss to Coe on March 16.

UW-Eau Claire

Shawano grad Jacob Lacy singled in a run during the UW-Eau Claire baseball team’s win over Purchase State on March 19.

Lacy delivered the hit in the seventh inning and finished with two at-bats in the contest.
