College Highlights (April 8)

Western Technical College

Pulaski High School graduate Chase Reinke played in seven games during the past week for the Western Technical College baseball team.

In a win over Rainy River Technical College on March 28, Reinke had two hits, a walk and a run scored. He pitched against Rainy River the next day, taking the loss after allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits across 5⅓ innings while striking out five batters.

Reinke singled, doubled and scored twice in a another win over Rainy River on March 29.

He pitched and then played centerfield in a win over Central Lakes College-Brainerd on April 2. On the mound, he allowed three runs on five hits over four innings while striking out three. He had a sacrifice and also scored while at the plate.

Reinke tallied two hits, a walk and a RBI while scoring twice in a win over Bay College on April 3. In a loss to Bay College that day, he had a hit, a RBI and a run scored.

St. Norbert College

Oconto Falls grad Mason Sefcik, Bonduel grad Noah Beilfuss and Wittenberg-Birnamwood grad Simon Stewart all pitched for the St. Norbert baseball team during its doubleheader against Aurora University on April 3.

Sefcik pitched 6⅔ innings during a 10-7 St. Norbert win. He surrendered 10 hits and seven runs while striking out a pair and walking none. St. Norbert scored five times in the bottom of the ninth to steal the win.

Beilfuss and Stewart each pitched in the team’s 12-7 loss to Aurora. Beilfuss allowed a pair of runs on a hit and walk, while Stewart struck out a batter and allowed just one hit over 1⅓ scoreless innings.

UW-Stevens Point

Menominee Indian graduate Guadalupe Corn took part in three events for the UW-Stevens Point women’s track and field team during the UW-Platteville Open on April 2.

She placed 16th in the discus after a throw of 30.85 meters. Corn also took 27th in the hammer throw (32.43 meters) and 30th in shot put (9.69 meters).

Winona State University

Wittenberg-Birnamwood grad Maddy Pietz placed first or second in three events for the Winona State women’s track and field team during the Wartburg Outdoor Select on April 1.

Individually, she placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.69 seconds.

Pietz was on the first-place finishing 4x400 relay (3:51.22) and second-place finishing 4x100 relay (47.92).

Minnesota State University-Moorhead

Gillett graduate Derek Hanson ran the 1,500 while representing the Minnesota State University-Moorhead men’s track and field team at the University of South Dakota Early Bird on April 2.

Hanson completed the race in 4:13.5 to place 22nd.

UW-Platteville

Pulaski grad Kayla Lipsey competed in three events for the UW-Platteville women’s track and field team at the UW-Platteville Open on April 2.

Lipsey placed 10th in the 100 (13.76), 12th in the 100 hurdles (17.95) and did not post a mark in the javelin throw.

UW-La Crosse

Oconto Falls graduate Tucker Bouche pitched in three contests for the UW-La Crosse baseball team over the past week.

In the team’s 18-0 win over Finlandia on March 28, Bouche struck out two batters over a clean inning of work.

In a loss to UW-Platteville on April 2, he struck out two batters while allowing a run in another inning of work. Bouche pitched two innings in a win over UW-Platteville that same day. He struck out a batter while allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits.
