Club Notes: Lena Lions

The Lena Lions Club honored Samara Katelyn Van Ark, daughter of Lee Van Ark and Carrie Smith, as the student of the month for November.

Van Ark is a senior at Lena High School, where she is a member of the National Honor Society and the student council. Van Ark is an active member of the cross country, basketball and track teams. Her friends describe her as intelligent, friendly, loyal, honest, empathetic, reliable and a great friend.

Van Ark’s hobbies are reading, cooking, baking, crocheting and listening to music. Her community activities include helping with the Lena Dairyfest Stampede, youth wrestling tournaments and the youth wrestling program.

Van Ark’s work experience is working as a waitress at the Blue Spruce.

Van Ark has enlisted in the Army National Guard to become a culinary specialist. She plans on attending Fox Valley Technical College to earn a degree in culinary arts and to transfer the Culinary Institute of America to earn a degree in food business management.
