CLUB NOTES: Delta Kappa Gamma, Nu Chapter

Alexandra Hartwig, owner of The Blend, described her business during Nu Chapter’s Sept. 7 meeting held at Crystal Falls in New London. Opened in 2022, The Blend is a vendor store that empowers women to grow their businesses, share their ambitions and sell their products alongside one another. Hartwig created a space for women to sell their creations to become successful enough to have their own stores in Shawano some day.

Twelve women opened the store in July with 16 now offering their clothing creations, home décor, healthy living products, spiritual/mindful gifts and other homemade creations. The vendors live within a 30-mile radius of Shawano.

Alexandra graduated from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in health care administration and was a director of a memory care center. Marriage and motherhood changed her career path. She believes that her generation measures success by happiness, time with family, impact on the community, and a balance between life and work. She talked about the seasons in life and said “a door closed and she got excited.”

Sig Shaw has been a member of Delta Kappa Gamma for 40 years. She received a pin and a red rose from President Judy Kucksdorf during the chapter’s September meeting. Sig served as chapter president from 1992 to 1994 and is currently a member of the World Fellowship Committee.

DKG is an international society of key women educators. Nu Chapter includes Waupaca and Shawano counties.
