The retrial of an Oconto man on child sex abuse charges has been postponed after the man’s attorney withdrew from the case.

After a hearing in Oconto County Circuit Court on July 28, Judge Michael T. Judge granted defense attorney Brad Hansen’s request to withdraw as counsel for David SanRoman, 46. The move postpones a trial that was scheduled for Aug. 2-3.

SanRoman is charged with two counts first-degree sexual assault of a child under age 13, two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child under age 12, and one count of second-degree sexual assault of a child, all charging him as a persistent repeater, in connection with incidents that allegedly occurred from 2016 to 2020.

A mistrial was granted in April over a procedural error. Judge scheduled a status conference for Sept. 15 to determine the next step in the court process.
