Beyer scores 3 goals in Shawano soccer shutout

Sheboygan North 5, Pulaski 0

The Golden Raiders took down the Red Raiders 5-0 in a matchup of state-ranked teams.

Sheboygan North (ranked 10th in Division 1) got two goals late in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into half.

The Golden Raiders stretched the lead in the second half with goals in the 51st, 59th and 69th minutes.

Pulaski (ranked 10th in Division 2) couldn’t find an answer as their five-game unbeaten streak against North came to an end.

Davis Knowles made three saves in goal for North (9-0-1, 4-0). Josh Roth made five saves in goal for Pulaski (8-2-2, 1-2).

Shawano 9, Green Bay West 0

Shawano shut out Green Bay West 9-0 as the Hawks stayed tied with Xavier at 3-1 for second place in the Bay Conference.

Warner Beyer led the Hawks with three goals.

Grayson Swedberg connected on two goals. Ruben De Gaspari also scored twice.

Dylan Gartner scored one, as did Jorel Matchopatow.

Assists were credited to Anderson Schmidt (2), Kody Popelka, Gartner, Brayden Mead, Cooper Boucher and Cambren Zueske.

Shawano’s stout defense (Boucher, Wyatt Schroeder, Popelka, Erik Ainsworth) and goal keeper (Ryan Buerman) dominated without allowing a single shot on goal for their sixth shutout of the season.

Matchopatow and Gartner scored their first varsity goals, and Zueske recorded his first varsity assist.
