Beverly M. Burris

Beverly May Burris (Buchert) passed away peacefully with family at her side on Jan. 26, 2021, after an eight-day hospital stay in The Villages, Florida. She was born July 25, 1947, in Embarrass.

Beverly attended Shawano High School. After graduation she moved to Madison, where she worked as a meat wrapper. She met Douglas Burris in 1969. They were married on Sept. 12, 1970.

Doug had five children from a previous marriage; Bev took on the task of being their mother. She was always referred to as “Mom” by all of the children. They resided in Shawano most of their life, until they bought a second home in The Villages in 2008. They began wintering in Florida from then out.

Bev and Doug traveled extensively across four continents and many islands. She also enjoyed fishing and boating with the family and had many hobbies, including: golf, bowling, mahjongg, cards, game nights, sewing and sitting in the sunshine.

She is survived by her husband, Doug; her children, Bridget Matarrese, Tammy Burris (daughter-in-law), Anne (Rob) Moffatt, Ric (Sheri) Burris and Jeff (David) Burris; her sisters and brothers, Barb (Bob) Gerndt, Anita Leinweber, Dave (Debby) Buchert, Donald (Bonnie) Buchert, Clifford (Evelyn) Buchert, Chuck (Tammy) Buchert, and brother-in-law Robert (Marlene) Burris; grandchildren, Andy (Emily) Murdoch, Jamie (Justin) Landwehr, Tina (Dan) Materrese, Griffin Burris and Neal Geurts; many nieces, nephews and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilbert and Agnes (Schmidt) Buchert; her sister, Karen; and her son, Michael.

A celebration of life was held in The Villages on Saturday, Feb. 6. A second celebration of life will be held in June, date to be determined, in Shawano.
