Auditions open for ‘Seussical the Musical’

Phoenix Players, Inc. will be holding open auditions for “Seussical The Musical” from 6-8 p.m. May 28 and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 29 at Christ Congregational Church, 70 S. Main St., Clintonville.

Anyone age 13 and older is welcome to audition. Auditioners should prepare an upbeat song from a musical to sing, but not a song from “Seussical.” Accompaniment music can be brought on a CD or other device. Piano accompanist will not be provided; however, a piano is available. No a cappella auditions will be allowed. Auditioners will learn and perform a short dance routine in small groups at the audition, so appropriate shoes are required.

Two performances of the musical are scheduled for Aug. 21 on the grounds by the Clintonville Public Library.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: Not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him.

Auditions are by appointment only; sign up online at www.phoenixplayerswi.com. For those not able to attend the scheduled auditions, other arrangements can be made. Call or text Brandon Byng at 920-737-8620 for information.
