Arvin Block

Arvin A. Block, 85, of Eagle, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021, in Waukesha. He was born Dec. 14, 1935, in Birnamwood, to the late Charles and Frieda (Fandrey) Block. Arvin served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Karen L. Marquette on Feb. 14, 1987, in West Allis.

Arvin was an extremely hard worker and loved his jobs as a roofer and a driver, then station clerk for Milwaukee County Transit. Arvin was a caring, generous and kind man, with a gentle spirit who would never hesitate to help someone. He had a strong faith and was a member of Poplar Creek Church. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting. Arvin was a devoted husband and a loving father; he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Arvin is survived by his wife, Karen; his daughter, Deborah Block; his brothers Norman (Shirley) Block, Ralph Block, Roger (Donna) Block; his sisters, Carol Szczech and Lucille (Alan) Nousen; his aunts, Stella Fandrey, Adeline Fandrey and Ruby Fandrey; his uncles, Marvin (Evelyn) Fandrey and Herbert (Noreen) Fandrey; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Beverly Marquette, Harry “Pete” (Lynn) Marquette, Larry Marquette, Jim Marquette, Donna Lampinen, Joe Marquette, Vicki (Thomas) Wegner, Randy Marquette, Robert “Bobby” (Kim) Marquette, Jana Marquette and Rosie Marquette.

He is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Frieda; two children in infancy; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harry and Margaret Marquette, and Carol Conklin; brothers-in-law, Jerome Szczech, Douglas Marquette, Michael Marquette and Ron Lampinen; sisters-in-law, Norma Block, Margie Marquette, Barbara (Dave) Sherman, Glenda Marquette, Barbara Marquette and Carol Conklin; niece, Kari Block; and a nephew in infancy.

A funeral service for Arvin will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Shawano AMVETS. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 4-7 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
