In the seventh grade, Cora Pieper took first place, while Lily Gee finished second and the duo of Halie Damveld and Addy Kust took third.

In the eighth grade, Andrea Walby finished in first place, Claire Dudek took second and Evan Pieper took third.

“We are so proud of all of our students and their amazing hard work over the last two months in Hope Happ’s science class and at home to make these projects possible,” said Autumne Gee, Sacred Heart’s director of admissions and development. “We had so many terrific scientific concepts researched and presented.”

Community supported ag program ready for 2023

The FRESH Project’s Mobile Market Community Supported Agriculture program is back for another year.

Community Supported Agriculture is a food distribution model that allows community members to pre-purchase a “share” of local farms’ harvests. CSA members pay a membership fee at the beginning of the year and in return receive produce throughout the growing season. Members receive consistent shares of fresh, locally grown produce and help support local food producers with money that stays in their community.

The FRESH Project’s CSA program will run from mid-June to early September, providing affordable, accessible, and healthy food to all.

“A membership in the CSA program allows members to have a deeper connection to their food, without having to grow it themselves,” said Dave Mendoza, executive director. “This year, we will provide our members with a behind-the-scenes look at the various farms that grow fresh food around Shawano County.”

CSA membership will be on a first come basis and will be limited to 100 shares.

“Members will receive locally grown, in-season vegetables/fruit, and a dozen cage-free chicken eggs every other week for six weeks. Prices are on an income-level basis,” said Mendoza.
