Area track and field state qualifiers

Area track and field teams continued postseason action at sectional meets on May 25, with several individuals and relay teams qualifying for state.

Pulaski and Shawano athletes participated in Division 1 sectionals. Menominee Indian, Oconto Falls and Wittenberg-Birnamwood were at a Division 2 sectional, while Bonduel, Gillett, Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy, Suring and Gresham/Bowler all competed in a Division 3 sectional.

To advance to state, Division 1 individuals or relay teams had to place in the top three, while Division 2 and 3 participants needed to place in the top four.

Here is a list of individuals and relay teams that qualified for state, events they advanced in, places they took and the times or distances/heights they achieved:


• Adalyn Barkley: third in 400 (1 minute, 0.17 seconds).

• Grace Chelberg: second in 800 (2:17.73).

• Lily Guenther: second in 3,200 (11:32.1).

• Adalyn Barkley, Grace Chelberg, Lily Guenther, Bailey Hendricks: first in girls 4x800 relay (9:43.14).


• Olivia Sprangers: second in 200 (25.66).

• Jack Marsh: fourth in discus (172 feet, 3 inches).


• Reese Rogowski: first in 100 (12.32), 200 (25.08) and 400 (56.49); third in long jump (17-1½).

• Faith Resch: third in 300 hurdles (46.28).

Oconto Falls

No Oconto Falls athletes or relay teams placed in the top four at sectionals.

Menominee Indian

No Menominee Indian athletes or relay teams placed in the top four at sectionals.


• Ryan Westrich: fourth in shot put (46-8¼).

• Kendra Troxel, Ashlyn Kurey, Cierra Schnell, Mariah Wondra: third in girls 4x800 relay (10:16.71).

• Mariah Wondra: second in 3,200 (12:06.3).

• Karter Schroeder: third in high jump (6-0).


• Alex Peterson: fourth in 1,600 (4:30.84) and 3,200 (9:48.93).

• Evan Peterson, Bradyn Wendorff, Ben Matczak, Alex Peterson: first in boys 4x800 relay (8:15.85).


• Eva Brooks: second in high jump (5-4).

• Anthony Seefeldt: third in shot put (46-10½).


• Christine Sleeter: second in pole vault (10-0); fifth in high jump (5-2).


• Emmitt Kietlinski: first in high jump (6-6); third in triple jump (43-1).
