Three Pulaski High School girls soccer players were named to Fox River Classic Conference teams after strong spring seasons.

Junior Gianna Logue made the first team for her play on defense. Junior defender Laci Lemke was an honorable mention, while freshman midfielder Isabella Logue also made the honorable mention team.

Kelly Logue was named the Co-Coach of the Year in the FRCC.

Gianna Logue was Pulaski’s anchor on defense. During matches, you could often hear the junior calling out instructions to her teammates and always being supportive.

“Making all-conference first team in the FRCC is a huge honor,” said Logue. “Coming off of a hip surgery this past winter I made it a goal to dedicate myself to work hard to be the best version of myself and to contribute to my team. Being acknowledged from our conference coaches and making a long run in the postseason with my team has been an extremely humbling experience.”

While Logue spent most of her time on the field helping defend the net, she also was moved to forward on a couple of occasions.

Despite limited time as an attacker, she still led the team with six goals. The junior also led the team with six assists.

Next spring she will serve as a leader again and hopes to guide the team to even more success after only two players graduated from this spring’s roster.

“Earning first team will definitely motivate me for my senior season here at Pulaski High School,” said Logue. “I will build on this year’s experiences and continue to grow as a player. Being part of an atmosphere where we as players encourage, support and push each other to improve daily as individuals and as a team shows that there is more to come. I am extremely excited and motivated for my senior season of soccer!”

While Pulaski only scored 12 goals in nine conference matches, it only lost five of them because of a stout defense that surrendered just 14 goals.

Lemke was another big piece to the puzzle. She fended off opponent’s attacks on the left sideline. The junior was also often the one tasked with finding an open teammate to throw the ball in to.

Lemke was credited with one assist on the season.

“To me this means that I played my role on defense to the best of my ability to help my team achieve the bigger goal and I believe this will motivate me to keep doing my best for next year to be able to make the team better and to achieve bigger successes,” said Lemke.

Isabella Logue also helped out on defense for the Red Raiders, but also was a threat as an attacker as well.

The freshman finished the year with three goals and four assists.

“Just being acknowledged by the FRCC’s coaches is an honor, especially in a conference that was very strong in girls soccer this year,” said Logue. “At the beginning of my freshman year I set a personal goal to prove to my teammates and school that I will work extremely hard to simply earn my position on the varsity team. That was the first step. Surprisingly, not only did I make the varsity team, but helped my team make a successful run through the playoffs.

“I guess that receiving an honor such as this showed that my personal goal played a role in our team goal, even though we finished a little short of what we wanted. Getting individual recognition helped prove that I did earn everything I worked toward and it made the team better. For me, to be part of the honorable mention team as a freshman means that I have what it takes to go up against upperclassmen and stand my own, and the other coaches see it, too.”

While Pulaski was 3-5-1 in the FRCC, the Red Raiders were one of the toughest teams to go against, and that was one of the reasons why Kelly Logue was the Co-Coach of the Year. The team was outscored 10-2 in its first three matches before making some adjustments and becoming a more competitive team the rest of the way.

After winning their final three FRCC matches, the Red Raiders won a pair of playoff contests — including an upset win over West De Pere — before being eliminated by FRCC foe Green Bay Southwest in a sudden victory situation in a sectional semifinal match.
