Gresham’s Valarie Cerveny, Oconto Falls’ Hailey Peitersen and Pulaski’s Emily Bruss all received all-state honors from the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association.

Bruss, a sophomore, landed on the Division 1 honorable mention team. Peitersen made the honorable mention team in Division 2 to cap her senior season. Cerveny capped her senior season with a spot on the honorable mention team in Division 4.

Bruss finished with 634 assists on the season and 161 digs on the season.

The sophomore also chipped in 87 attack kills, 32 total blocks, 159 service points and 59 aces.

“I am so appreciative of having a all-state honorable mention honor,” said Bruss. “At first I didn’t think much of it but after I realized how big of an accomplishment it was as a sophomore, I was very happy with myself.

“I am so thankful for all the coaches and teammates I have had to push and push me to work hard and strive for this success. I am so appreciative for it!”

Peitersen capped the year with 738 assists and 306 digs.

She also had 165 attack kills, 50 blocks, 213 service points and 20 aces.

“It is very meaningful to not only make first team all-conference, but now to be awarded an all-state honor,” said Peitersen. “This was such a great way to top off my senior season!”

Cerveny had 260 attack kills on the season, nearly averaging four kills a set. She also had 27 blocks.

She also racked up 159 service points and 39 aces this season. The senior also had 84 digs.

“For one, it’s an honor to even be nominated for all-state, let alone being selected. Receiving an all-state honor is really special to me and I wouldn’t have been able to receive this without my teammates and my coaches. They pushed me each day in practice to make me a better player,” said Cerveny.
