3 area players named to WFCA All-Star Game rosters
Shawano’s Gage Timm, Suring’s Leo Taylor and Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy co-op’s Ethan Russell were all named to Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star Game rosters.
Timm made the North Large team as a quarterback, while Taylor (offensive/defensive lineman) and Russell (running back/defensive back) landed on the South 8-Man team.
The 8-Player All-Star Game is scheduled for July 16 at 6 p.m. The Large School All-Star Game will be played July 17 around 6 p.m. All all-star games will be played at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh.
“It’s a great honor, just knowing that all of the work that I have put in is paying off,” said Timm on being named to an all-star roster. “Being recognized as one of the top players for my position in the state means a lot.”
Timm landed on the Bay Conference first team as a quarterback and defensive back after his senior season. He was also the Bay’s Offensive Back of the Year.
“I found the honor to be very nice, and when I was informed that I made the All-Star (roster), it made me feel as if all the years of training and learning wasn’t for naught,” said Taylor.
Taylor made the MONLPC-8 all-conference team as an offensive and defensive lineman this past fall.
Russell attends STAA. He was also named to the MONLPC-8 all-conference team this past fall, doing so as a defensive back.
