Anyone who has been to Hillcrest or Sunnyside elementary schools in the Pulaski School District can see they are bursting at the seams.
Storage closets are becoming learning spaces. Larger classrooms are being divided into smaller classrooms. Art and music classrooms are being relegated to gymnasiums or other spaces because the classrooms are needed for core classes. Student populations are growing at a time when neighboring school districts are seeing declines. Old locker rooms are serving as closets while closets are providing one-on-one space for special needs students.
