Voters in the Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District approved their 2023-24 budget and tax levy Oct. 23.
The new levy will mean a near 10% drop in the mill rate, noted Garrett Rogowski, superintendent of the district.
The 2023-24 mill rate will be $7.29 per $1,000 of equalized value, compared to the $8.06 per $1,000 that was levied for the 2022-23 budget year.
“The levy went up, but the mill rate is down,” said Kim Moede, district accountant. “The equalized value of the district increased 13.7%.”
