The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys golf team posted a second-place finish at the May 17 Bonduel Invite at Golden Sands Golf Course in Cecil.

Witt-Birn earned a team score of 387, behind just Manawa (363). Marion (412) took third, while Bonduel (424) was fifth. Menominee Indian/Gresham didn't have enough golfers to qualify for a team score.

Calvin Scheurer was Witt-Birn's top golfer, carding an 18-hole round of 83. Maverick Beran (92), Nolan Fraaza (98), Charlie Nowinsky (114), Larken Betry (118) filled out the team.

Witt-Birn boys golf team earns 1st at Marion Invite

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys golf team had all five varsity golfers post rounds under 90 shots during the May 13 Marion Invite at Glen Cairn Golf Course in Ogdensburg.

The strong team effort helped the Chargers place first with a score of 338. Wisconsin Valley Lutheran (351) came in second and Wabeno/Laona (365) third.

Gresham/Bowler girls 5th, boys 6th at CWC track and field meet

The Gresham/Bowler girls track and field team placed fifth during the May 13 Central Wisconsin Conference Pre-Conference Meet in Plainfield. The boys co-op claimed sixth.

The Tigerton girls placed sixth, while the Marion girls were 10th.

The Gresham/Bowler boys saw Emmitt Kietlinski win the high jump (6 feet, 3 inches) and long jump (18-10.5). He placed second in the triple jump (38-7).

Hannah Cerveny placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (19.35 seconds) for the Gresham/Bowler girls. Ireland Jensen took second in the high jump (4-8).

Witt-Birn girls edge Manawa to win home track and field invite

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School girls track and field team topped Manawa by one point to win the May 10 Wittenberg-Birnamwood Invite in Wittenberg.

The Witt-Birn girls accumulated 161 points to Manawa's 160. Gresham/Bowler took fourth with 42 points, while Tigerton tallied 39 points to take fifth. Marion scored three points and finished eighth.

On the boys side, Manawa won with 181 points. Witt-Birn (110.5) came in second, with Gresham/Bowler (14) in fifth.

Witt-Birn boys golf team wins another CWC meet

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys golf team placed first at a Central Wisconsin Conference meet at Bullseye Country Club on May 10 in Wisconsin Rapids.

Witt-Birn posted a team score of 347, well ahead of second-place finishing Wisconsin Valley Lutheran (373). Bonduel (399) claimed fifth, with Marion (466) in eighth and Menominee Indian/Gresham (468) in ninth.

All five of Witt-Birn's varsity golfers finished within five shots of each other. Calvin Scheurer led the way with an 18-hole round of 85.

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School track and field teams turned in top-three finishes at the Weyauwega-Fremont Open May 6 in Weyauwega.

The Witt-Birn girls scored 131 points to place second behind only Weyauwega-Fremont (155). The Witt-Birn boys tallied 103 points, trailing Weyauwega-Fremont (128.5) and Shiocton (107).

Gresham/Bowler, Tigerton and Marion also competed in the open.

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys golf team earned another first-place finish after posting the top team score at the May 4 Thornberry Creek Invite at Thornberry Creek at Oneida in Oneida.

Witt-Birn earned a score of 343, comfortably ahead of Manawa (373) and Laona/Wabeno (397). Bonduel (418) placed fifth, Marion (445) eighth and Menominee Indian/Gresham (468) ninth.

Ian Resch led the Chargers to their top finish after an 18-hole round of 79, tied for the best individual score on the day.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood posted a team score of 349 to place first at a Central Wisconsin Conference meet at Stevens Point Country Club May 3 in Stevens Point.

Bonduel (389) placed fourth, while Marion (447) was eighth and Menominee Indian/Gresham (473) ninth.

Ian Resch and Maverick Beran led Witt-Birn on the course with 18-hole rounds of 83.

Nolan Fraaza fired a round of 91 for the Chargers. Calvin Scheurer and Brian Nelson each shot 92s.

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys golf team placed second at the Whistling Straights Invite April 26 at Whistling Straits Golf Course in Sheboygan.

Witt-Birn finished with a team score of 367, nine shots back of Wisconsin Valley Lutheran (358). Bonduel claimed seventh (431), while Menominee Indian/Gresham tied for eighth (480). Marion placed 10th at 486 shots.

Maverick Beran was Witt-Birn's top individual finisher, carding an 18-hole round of 86. Ian Resch fired an 89.

Witt-Birn boys golf team takes 1st in opening CWC competition

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys golf team got its spring season started on a strong note after placing first in the Weymont Invite on April 22 at Weymont Run Country Club in Weyauwega.

The Chargers posted a team score of 348, comfortably ahead of second-place finishing Wisconsin Valley Lutheran (376) in what was the first Central Wisconsin Conference competition of the season.

Bonduel placed fourth with a team score of 414, while the Menominee Indian/Gresham co-op (440) was sixth. Marion didn't have enough golfers to qualify for a team score.
