Mission accomplished for Karl after 1st win

Andy Karl survived a caution-plagued IMCA Modified feature race to score his first-ever feature win at Shawano Speedway on Aug. 20.

Todd Frank notched his first Late Model win of the year. Lucas Hacker took home the extra money after winning the Mighty 4 feature, with it being his fourth win of the year. Jeffery Teske came from 12th to win his sixth IMCA Sport Mod feature of the year, while Kyle Frederick was dominant in winning his third IMCA Stock Car feature.

Stock cars put on a spectacle at Shawano Speedway

Though the IMCA Stock Car division is known as “the class too tough to tame,” it doesn’t always feature a three-wide battle for the lead for nearly half of the race. On June 25 it sure did, with Trent Nolan prevailing for his fourth win of the the year.

The Mighty 4 division also featured a three-car slugfest with Lucas Hacker garnering his first win of the year in a photo finish. Jeffrey Teske also got win No. four in the IMCA Sport Mod class. Mike Mullen raced to his first IMCA Modified win of 2022, and Nick Anvelink scored his first Late Model win in Dirt Kings action.

Swedberg dominates Late Model feature, Wilinski cashes in

On what started out as a sun drenched evening, a brief shower right before intermission brought on a racy set of features on fan appreciation night and $1,000 to win modified main event.

Brett Swedberg used his outside front row starting spot to lead all 20 laps and win by nearly a full lap in the Late Model feature. Kyle Frederick and Konnor Wilinski returned to victory lane on the night, with Jeffery Teske in the IMCA Sport Mods and Lucas Hacker in the Mighty 4s getting a taste of victory on the night as well.

With Mother Nature finally agreeing that it was time to race again at the Shawano Speedway on Aug. 14, the difference between jubilation and heartbreak was just a matter of inches.

One driver stated if you can’t win the show, be the show. Another driver said when you have a driver like Nick Anvelink that you’re battling, your margin for error is very slim.

Anvelink wins twice during speedway’s Mid-Summer Classic

Fans were given two opportunities to watch racing action at the Shawano Speedway as the Mid-Summer Classic kicked off on July 23 and wrapped up July 24.

The Street Stocks joined the program on Friday and brought some great action to the show. Mike Mullen was the story of the night though, picking up wins in two divisions in very impressive fashion. Joining Mullen with wins was Nick Anvelink, Jayden Schmidt and Jeff Richards.

Oreskovich gets 1st career sport mod feature win

Halloween came early at the Shawano Speedway as Halloween on the half mile made its return July 17.

Kids donned costumes and prizes were awarded to the some of the best. While kids waited to go trick or treating in the pits after the races, drivers were hoping for more treats than tricks on the track.

Finding a treat, in the form of a feature win, in their bag would be Kevin Feck, Travis Van Straten, Ron Berna, Max Oreskovich and Lucas Hacker.

Shawano Speedway Hall of Fame welcomes 2 more

Last week it was the future in the spotlight at Shawano Speedway. This week it was the past as two new members were inducted into the speedway’s Hall of Fame.

George Giesen and Ed Bertram were honored for their past accomplishments at the speedway and in racing. With friends and family along with numerous current and former drivers who have benefited from the new hall of famers contributions to the racing world in attendance, the two were honored in a ceremony at intermission.

Yarie, Schmidt, Christians cruise to feature wins at Shawano Speedway

While last week was the unofficial start to summer, the weather took a week to catch up. Nick Anvelink, Jeremy Christians, Jayden Schmidt, Marcus Yarie and Lucas Hacker all beat the heat and their respective fields to find victory lane at Shawano Speedway on June 5.

In the Late Model division, Troy Springborn looked to get his season on track as he jumped to a large lead in the opening laps of the feature event. Meanwhile, Joel Bennett and Chris Engels were giving chase.
