Dairyland League playoff matchups set

The Dairyland League determined playoff matchups during a league meeting Thursday.

The Hortonville Stars won the league’s regular season title with a 7-2 record and will host the Hofa Park Panthers (3-6) on Sunday.

The Navarino Rangers (6-3) are the No. 2 seed, and will take on the seventh-seeded Shawano Lobos (5-4).

The Waupaca Lakemen (6-3) will serve as the No. 3 seed. Waupaca will host the sixth-seeded Bonduel Broncos (5-4).

Navarino tops Bonduel in final Dairyland regular season game

The Navarino Rangers earned a 2-1 victory over the Bonduel Broncos on Tuesday in Navarino in the Dairyland League’s final regular season game.

Trailing 1-0, Navarino drew three walks in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kendal Lecker, who finished with two hits, scored on a wild pitch before Bailey Dingeldein crossed home on a Ryan Boettcher sacrifice flyout for the go-ahead run.

Paul Sellner earned the win for Navarino after striking out five batters over five innings. Matt Krause worked the final four innings to seal the win.

Hortonville wins Dairyland League regular season title

The Dairyland League had several makeup games that were played last week, along with the final slate of regular season games. It led to a ton of movement in the standings, with Hortonville emerging as the regular season champions.

Hortonville 13, Cecil 0

The Hortonville Stars eased to a seven-inning win over the Cecil Mudhens on Sunday in Cecil. The victory secured Hortonville the league’s top record at 7-2.

Hortonville had 12 hits and drew 11 walks in the win. The Stars scored runs in five of the seven innings.

Hofa Park, Waupaca earn wins in only Dairyland League games

It was a light week of action in the Dairyland League after three contests were postponed. Hofa Park and Waupaca earned wins in the two games that were played.

Hofa Park 4, Cecil 0

The Hofa Park Panthers used a pair of two-run innings to take down the Cecil Mudhens on Sunday in Pulaski.

Bob Tilot led Hofa Park (3-5) at the plate, posting two hits and driving in a run. Cole Wilcox, Carson Williquette and Luke Platkowski also drove in a run each.

Dairyland teams continue to battle for position

As the Dairyland League entered its final month of the season, the standings continued to tighten up. This past weekend’s games saw Bonduel, Navarino and Nichols earn key wins, while Hortonville picked up two victories.

The Bonduel Broncos rallied for a home win over the Waupaca Lakemen on Sunday in Bonduel.

The Dairyland League playoff race tightened up after the most recent weekend of games were played. Six of the league’s 10 teams have either three or four wins.

Shawano 9, Cecil 1

The Shawano Lobos used a pair of four-run innings to roll to a win over the Cecil Mudhens on Friday in Shawano.

Dylan Berg had three hits and two RBIs for the Lobos (3-2). Riley Acra and Ryan Coffey each chipped in two hits.

Pulaski stays hot with win over Hofa Park

Many Dairyland League teams passed the halfway point of their 2020 summer schedule on Sunday. Pulaski, Nichols, Hortonville, Waupaca and Navarino all earned wins.

Pulaski 3, Hofa Park 1

The Pulaski Reds remained the league’s only unbeaten team, toppling the Hofa Park Panthers on Sunday in Pulaski.

Garrett Kaczrowski led the way for Pulaski, earning the win on the mound after pitching 8 2/3 innings. Joel Vandehei got the final out to earn the save.

Dan Sabin and Vandehei each finished with two hits for the Reds.

Strong pitching highlights Dairyland play over holiday week

Pitching was the name of the game in the Dairyland League during the holiday week, with several individual efforts helping teams pick up wins.

Bonduel 7, Cecil 0

The Bonduel Broncos improved to 3-1 on the season after a shutout home win over the Cecil Mudhens on July 3.

Mitch Pleshek led the way for Bonduel, tossing a five-hit shutout to earn the win. He struck out 14 batters.

Luke Kostreva belted a three-run homer for the Broncos, while Jack Reinke had three hits and four RBIs.

Pulaski becomes first Dairyland team to three wins

Four Dairyland League matchups were played on Sunday, with three teams earning their second wins and Pulaski becoming the first team to get three wins.

Pulaski 13, Cecil 4

The Pulaski Reds rolled to a road victory over the Cecil Mudhens, tallying the final 13 runs of the contest.

Cecil scored four first-innings runs and led 4-2 after five innings. Pulaski scored three times in the sixth to grab the lead, six times in the eighth to pull away and two more times in the ninth to finish off the win.

Pulaski, Waupaca move to 2-0 in Dairyland League play

The Dairyland League played its second full week of the season over the weekend, starting with a Friday night matchup between the Shawano Lobos and Hofa Park Panthers.

Shawano 1, Hofa Park 0

Shawano pitchers surrendered just four hits in the contest and have allowed just three runs through two games. The Lobos improved to 1-1.

Bob Tilot and Adam Frost each had two hits for Hofa Park, which fell to 1-2 overall.
