Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School’s Lauren Dombeck is enjoying her senior season of cross-country while also helping the team finish near the top of its Central Wisconsin Conference meets.

Dombeck placed 31st at the Charger Invitational on Aug. 8 in Wittenberg, a night the girls team placed third. The girls team also placed third at the T-Bird Invitational on Aug. 31 in Iola, with Dombeck finishing 35th that evening.

Falls' Ludemann, Adams third at triangular

Oconto Falls' Hannah Ludemann and Joe Adams each placed third during a triangular on Friday in Oconto Falls. Ludemann completed the course in 22 minutes, 42 seconds, while Adams posted a time of 17:40.

The Oconto Falls boys took second with a score of 45, behind Little Chute (18). The Oconto Falls girls finished third with a score of 51, behind Marinette (34) and Little Chute (39).

Suring girls cross-country team takes second at meet

Olivia Noack placed second to help the Suring High School girls cross-country team place second at a meet Thursday in Lena.

Noack posted a time of 22 minutes, 11 seconds as Suring posted a score of 41, just behind Coleman's 38 and ahead of Oconto's 42.

Chantelle VandenElzen (25:01) placed sixth for Suring, while Hailey Thomson (25:45) was 11th. Georgia Gerndt (27:20) and Samantha Seibert (27:52) rounded out the team score, taking 18th and 21st, respectively.

Shawano swept Menasha in a Bay Conference match on Thursday in Menasha.

Anna Cuenca (No. 1), Jenna Ainsworth (No. 2), Grace Licausi (No. 3) and Nicole Piantek (No. 4) earned singles wins for the Hawks. Ainsworth and Licausi each rallied for wins after dropping the first set.

Bonduel girls cross-country team claims top finish

The Bonduel High School girls cross-country team won a Central Wisconsin Conference meet after posting the top score at the Charger Invitational on a cool and overcast Sept. 8 evening in Wittenberg.

Bonduel earned a team score of 24, comfortably ahead of second-place Rosholt (39).

The team was led by three top-10 finishes and had its fourth- and fifth-fastest runners place inside the top 15.

Kara Troxel was the team’s top finisher, placing second in 21 minutes, 19 seconds. Ashlyn Kurey wasn’t far behind, finishing fourth in 21:50.5.

Athlete Profile: Derek Hanson

The Gillett Secondary School cross-country teams have enjoyed tons of success over the past few years. Derek Hanson has been at the center of the accomplishments of the boys team, and is looking to cap his high school career with another big season this fall.

Hanson made it to state for the first time as a sophomore, doing so as an individual a couple weeks after claiming the top spot in the first-ever Marinette & Oconto Conference Meet.

Kalleigh Schroeder has already helped the Bonduel High School girls cross-country team make history, and now she’s trying to end her high school career on a high note this fall.

Schroeder’s first year of cross-country didn’t come until last fall, but she played a big role for the girls team that won its first-ever Central Wisconsin Conference title and made it to state for a third straight season.

Adams, Ludemann lead Oconto Falls cross-country teams at NEC triangular

Oconto Falls High School’s Joe Adams and Hannah Ludemann turned in top-three finishes to lead their respective cross-country teams in a North Eastern Conference triangular meet on Friday in Oconto Falls.

Adams placed second in the boys race with a time of 17 minutes, 51 seconds. Ludemann was the third finisher in the girls race, posting a time of 23:22.

The Oconto Falls girls team posted a score of 23 to take first. Wrightstown (38) was second, while Little Chute didn’t qualify for a team score.

Wilson duo leads Clintonville at NEC meet

Jesse Wilson and Jasmine Wilson led their respective Clintonville teams at the Freedom Invitational on Friday. The event served as a North Eastern Conference meet.

Jesse Wilson posted a time of 17 minutes, 24.18 seconds to place third in the boys race and help the team to a fourth-place finish. Jasmine Wilson came in 32nd with a time of 24:27.23 for the Clintonville girls team, which didn't qualify for a team score.

Gillett cross-country teams place first at invitational

The Gillett boys and girls teams each placed first at the Goodman-Pembine Invitational on Thursday in Pembine.

The girls posted a score of 19, while the boys tallied a 51 to edge Oconto (54).

Sylvia Hansen, Ryann Wagner and Carleigh Kaczmarek placed second through fourth in the girls race. Hansen had a time of 21 minutes, 46.5 seconds, while Wagner finished in 22:20.2 and Kaczmarek in 22:29.8.

Angela Mosconi (23:40.1) and Kasey Hansen (23:55.3) rounded out the team score by taking seventh and 10th, respectively.
