Antetokounmpo suspended for Bucks' finale over headbutt

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been suspended for Milwaukee's final game of the regular season, handed a one-game penalty Wednesday for headbutting Washington's Moe Wagner.

It's unknown if Antetokounmpo would have played in Thursday's game against Memphis anyway, given that the Bucks have already secured the No. 1 overall seed in the NBA playoffs that start next week.

Antetokounmpo will be eligible for game one of the Bucks' first-round series against Orlando, which will almost certainly be played Monday or Tuesday at Walt Disney World.

The Milwaukee Bucks rallied from a 23-point deficit to top the Miami Heat and lock up the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference during a game Thursday in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Milwaukee outscored Miami 74-43 in the second half.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton each scored 33 points to power the Bucks. Antetokounmpo also had 12 rebounds, while Middleton grabbed six boards and dished out eight assists.

The Milwaukee Bucks believe they can build on the momentum they established while putting up the NBA’s best record before the pandemic-imposed hiatus — even if it has been months since they played a meaningful game.

Milwaukee is 53-12 and virtually assured of entering the postseason as the Eastern Conference’s top seed. The Bucks return from a 4 ½-month layoff July 31 when they face the Boston Celtics in Florida.

Bucks’ Bledsoe tests positive for the coronavirus

Milwaukee Bucks guard Eric Bledsoe has tested positive for COVID-19, but has said he doesn’t have any symptoms associated with the coronavirus.

Bledsoe hasn’t been with the team since they reported to Orlando last week, the Journal Sentinel reported.

The Bucks began a second training camp early this month but shut it down after someone from the organization tested positive for the coronavirus. They didn’t name the person at the time.

Bucks will take messages for social change onto the court

Milwaukee Bucks team members will join other NBA players who plan to put messages for social change on the back of their jerseys once games resume at the end of the month.

Both Kyle Korver and Khris Middleton will substitute “Black Lives Matter” for their names on their jerseys.

“I think it’s the most important thing for people to realize,” Middleton said Monday. “That our lives do matter. That’s why I went with it.”

The Milwaukee Bucks have closed their practice facility following the team’s latest round of testing for the coronavirus.

Bucks officials confirmed Sunday that they had closed the facility and that they aren’t planning to reopen it before leaving for Florida on Thursday to prepare for the NBA’s resumption of the season at Walt Disney World.

The news of the closing was first reported by ESPN, which said the Bucks closed the facility after receiving results from Friday’s testing.

The National Basketball Association is coming back.

The NBA suspended its season indefinitely on March 11 after a player tested positive for the coronavirus, but the league announced June 4 that it was going to try and complete the 2019-20 season.

Instead of wrapping up the regular season, only 22 of the 30 NBA teams will be in action. All games will be played inside Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando.

Packers, Bucks donate $37,500 to hunger relief efforts

Following the Green Bay Packers’ recent playoff run, during which the Packers and Milwaukee Bucks both sold a special, limited edition t-shirt featuring the logos of both teams and the time-honored Packers cheer, “Go Pack Go,” the teams raised $37,500 through the shirt sales to donate to hunger relief efforts.

Half of the funds will go to Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay, and half will go to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
