Oshkosh 2

Shawano bounced back from a loss on Thursday by earning a road win over Oshkosh on Saturday.

Oshkosh grabbed the lead with two runs in the third inning, but Shawano responded with a six-run fourth frame.

Dairyland standings tighten up

The Dairyland League playoff race tightened up after the most recent weekend of games were played. Six of the league’s 10 teams have either three or four wins.

Shawano 9, Cecil 1

The Shawano Lobos used a pair of four-run innings to roll to a win over the Cecil Mudhens on Friday in Shawano.

Dylan Berg had three hits and two RBIs for the Lobos (3-2). Riley Acra and Ryan Coffey each chipped in two hits.

Brewers' Woodruff easy choice to start season opener

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff is following up his first All-Star appearance by getting his first opportunity to start a season opener.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell announced Friday that Woodruff will get the start when Milwaukee begins the season July 24 against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Kyle Hendricks will be starting for the Cubs.

"It's kind of like the All-Star Game, one of those things they can't take away from you," Woodruff said. "It's a huge honor."

Clintonville wins thriller over Shawano

In a highly entertaining matchup, it was Clintonville’s Jared Cartwright that came through when his team needed him the most to pick up a road win over Shawano on Thursday.

Cartwright delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the top of the eighth inning before escaping a bases-loaded jam in the bottom half to help Clintonville to a 3-2 win.

Bonduel 8

Waupaca 0

Bonduel rolled to a home win over Waupaca on Thursday.

Noah Beilfuss powered Bonduel on offense, driving in five runs on three hits. He also scored a run and tossed a perfect sixth inning.

Logan Guenterberg and Jack Johnson also drove in a run each for the hosts. Isaac Boldt earned the win after striking out eight batters over five innings. Isaac Banker pitched the seventh to wrap up the win.

Winneconne 0

Clintonville rolled to a home win over Winneconne on Tuesday behind a seven-run second inning.

Brock Smejkal, Jared Cartwright, Klay Finger, Sean Finger, Dylan Danforth and Brady Kasson all drove in a run for Clintonville. Cartwright had two of the team’s 11 hits.

Bonduel pitching duo stifles Oconto Falls’ bats

The pitching duo of Noah Beilfuss and Isaac Boldt powered Bonduel to a 4-0 home win over Oconto Falls on Monday.

Beilfuss struck out eight batters over 4 ⅔ innings before Boldt tallied four strikeouts over the final 2 ⅓ innings.

Brewers seek to make history with 3rd straight playoff berth

The Milwaukee Brewers want to celebrate their golden anniversary by accomplishing something they have never done before.

After reaching the National League Championship Series in 2018 and falling in the NL wild-card game last year, the Brewers are seeking an unprecedented third straight playoff berth during this unusual 60-game season.

The Brewers launched their franchise in 1970. Their only previous back-to-back playoff appearances before the last two years came in 1981-82. Now they will try to make history while dealing with the challenges of playing through a pandemic.

Crivitz 1

Clintonville earned a road win over Crivitz on Monday behind a strong pitching performance from Brock Smejkal.

Smejkal surrendered just one run over 6 ⅔ innings, striking out nine batters along the way. The lone Crivitz run came in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Dylan Danforth was able to induce a groundball to end the contest.

Waupaca 6

Shawano secured its fourth straight win after a road victory over Waupaca on Sunday.

Andrew Popp led Shawano at the plate and on the mound. Popp posted three hits, including a home run, and drove in six runs while also picking up the win after pitching four innings.

Ashton Henning, Zach Erdmann, Jacob Landon and Braedyn Kowalkowski all chipped in two hits for Shawano, which had 13 hits as a team.
