Ian Rapoport, an insider for NFL Network and NFL.com tweeted at 7:42 a.m. on March 15 that, “After a week of going back and forth with the #Packers, Aaron Rodgers’ complicated contract pays him $50M per year over 3 years — $150M. Plus there are two low-money option years that will be replaced.”

Tom Pelissero, a reporter for NFL Network, expanded on the deal, noting that Rodgers will get $42 million in 2022, $59.515 million in 2023 and $49.3 million in 2024.

It’s been quite a year for Aaron Rodgers.

There was the offseason feud with his employer since 2005, the Green Bay Packers, which culminated in late July with his return for a possible “last dance.” There was his positive test for COVID-19 – and the fallout that ensued from misleading the public about his vaccination status and his stance on vaccinations, in general. And there was the broken toe sustained during his COVID isolation.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19, and will miss the team’s upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The news was first reported on Twitter by Tom Pelissero, a reporter for NFL Network.

Pelissero’s tweet read: “Sources: #Packers QB Aaron Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 and is out for Sunday’s game against the #Chiefs.”

In a follow-up tweet, Pelissero wrote that Rodgers informed the team of the news and that backup Jordan Love will be making his first career start against Kansas City.

MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers probably won’t appear in any of Green Bay’s three preseason games as the Packers look to get 2020 first-round draft pick Jordan Love as much work as possible.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Aug. 10 that Love will play the majority of the Packers’ preseason opener Aug. 14 against the Houston Texans and that Kurt Benkert also would get some snaps.

LaFleur then was asked whether Rodgers would play at all in the preseason.

“I would say most likely not,” LaFleur replied.
