SAFPARC keeps community fed, even during holidays

Hunger knows no season, but in November and December, when people get ready to celebrate two big holidays with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and more, it tends to get a lot of attention.

Shawano County won’t outsource jail food service

Shawano County will not outsource its jail food service after the public safety committee reviewed proposals from four companies Nov. 5.

Bids were received from Skillet, Summit, Consolidated Correctional and Trinity. Summit provided two options.

“Right away, the first thing you can probably see is the cost savings; however, to get into it, it’s not what it’s all cracked up to be,” said Troy Beyer, jail administrator.

Town of Abrams sued over meeting violations

The Wisconsin Transparency Project has filed a lawsuit in Oconto County Circuit Court alleging that the Abrams Town Board and Abrams Planning Commission held multiple illegal meetings from July through September.

Bowman arson case delayed again

It has been close to a year since the Shawano-Menominee County Circuit Court has been scheduling final pre-trial hearings in the case of Amanda Bowman, but there is no resolution.

Sheriff presents four employee recognition awards

Four employees across all divisions at the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department were honored by Sheriff George Lenzner at the Nov. 5 public safety meeting.

Given letters and certificates of commendation were April Norman, Colleen Smith, Jenny Sundberg and Ryder Stefl.

“These are some employees that have gone above and beyond,” Lenzner said.
