Gwyn Hermann placed second and Ayanna O’Kimosh was third to lead the Shawano girls wrestling team at the Kimberly Invite on Dec. 6.
“We battled all day long for some hard-earned places,” coach Mike Homan said. “There was some great wrestling through positions and matches that went right down to the wire. I’m proud of all the girls fighting hard until the final whistle. There is much work to be done, but we are off to a good start.”
Other finishers for the Hawks were Zennah Bosetski fourth place, Lauren Seehafer took sixth place, Jenna Moede seventh place and Madelyn Moesch ninth place.
Ella Korth and Amiyah O’Kimosh both placed in their extra matches.
“I thought Zennah, Gwyn and Ayanna really stood out today,” Homan said. “They were aggressive in their matches and fought until the end.
“Ayanna battled back from an injury in her third place match; it was awesome to watch. She has been working hard and will continue to improve if she continues to put the work in.”
