Wrestling: Misco leads Lena at classic
SHAWANO — Luke Misco secured a fifth-place finish to lead the Lena High School wrestling team at Saturday’s Shawano Holiday Classic.
Misco earned the finish after losing just once in the 106-pound weight class. After earning a bye to start the day, Misco lost a 9-2 decision before picking up a pin to advance to the fifth-place match.
Misco — one of six varsity Lena wrestlers in action — pinned Shiocton’s Gage Oskey in 2:41 to take the match.
Lena’s Ayden Decoursin took sixth place in the 120 weight class after going 2-3 on the day.
Decoursin opened the day with a 9-3 decision win before losing by pin in two straight matches. Decoursin bounced back with a 9-6 decision win, but lost by pin in the fifth-place match.
Alex Decoursin came in sixth in the 145 weight class, finishing 2-2 for the day.
All of Decoursin’s matches ended in pins, with the Lena wrestler winning his first and third matches.
Sam Marquardt finished seventh in the 126 class He posted a 2-3 record.
Marquardt opened the day with a 6-5 decision win, but was pinned in his next three matchups. Marquardt ended the day on a high note, claiming a 10-5 decision win.
Cody Dellise and Kevin Chang were the other two Wildcats on the mat. Dellise finished 10th in the 152 class, while Chang came in 11th at 120 pounds.
