Wittenberg-Birnamwood takes first place at Merrill Invite
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers went 3-2 in its five game match series at the Merrill Invite on Sept. 9. The Chargers took down Tomahawk (25-15, 25-19), Stanley-Boyd (25-16, 27-25) and Tomahawk again (25-23, 25-23).
The team dropped two matches to Athens (17-25, 11-25) and Chippewa Falls (12-25, 17-25).
With its performance, Wittenberg-Birnamwood took home first place in the silver bracket.
Lena vs. Coleman
Lena volleyball took down Coleman by scores of 25-19, 17-25, 25-12 and 25-21 on Sept. 12. Kenzie Vorpahl led Lena with 20 assists during the match, adding one service ace. Eva Brooks added another eight spike kills, three block kills, two digs and one service ace.
Niagara vs. Suring
Niagara defeated Suring in three sets during the schools’ Sept. 12 matchup in Suring. Suring dropped all three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-10 and 25-16.
Bowler vs. Tigerton
The Bowler Panthers defeated the Tigerton Tigers in three sets, by scores of 25-9, 25-9 and 28-25 on Sept. 12. Bowler’s Natalie Ricket led the team with nine kills and three blocks. Isabella Stevens added five service aces and 16 digs for the Panthers.
Tigerton’s Angel Welch led the Tigers with three kills and one ace.
Oconto Falls at Shawano Invite
The Oconto Falls Panthers finished second to only Shawano during the Sept. 9 Shawano Invite. The Panthers went 4-1, defeating Wausau West (25-12, 25-19), Peshtigo (25-9, 25-7) and Oconto (25-16, 25-13).
The only loss that the Panthers had came against Shawano, dropping three sets in the championship match (18-25, 22-25, 13-15).
Bowler vs. Port Edwards
The Bowler Panthers were defeated by Port Edwards by scores of 20-25, 25-16 and 12-15.
Ricket led the team with five kills and four blocks. Stevens added another four kills and six digs. While playing at the Port Edwards Invite, Bowler defeated Wild Rose by scores of 19-25, 25-19 and 15-13. Finally, Bowler took down Amherst in two sets, winning 25-12 and 25-15.
Oconto Falls vs. Wrightstown
The Oconto Falls Panthers volleyball team swept Wrightstown on Sept. 12, 25-12, 25-20 and 25-16.
Morgan Moynihan led the Panthers with 25 assists, while Izzy Otto added another 10. Amber Otto got into the stat book as well with 17 kills and 23 digs.
Tigerton vs. Menominee Indian
The Tigerton Tigers fell at home to Menominee Indian in three sets, by scores of 9-25, 14-25 and 4-25. Angel Welch led the Tigers with six digs and four service aces.
Gresham vs. Port Edwards
Gresham defeated Port Edwards in three sets by scores of 26-24, 25-22 and 25-20 on Sept. 14. Janay Pecore-Kirkland led Gresham with 10 kills, with Jessa Jensen adding seven kills. Lexi Baddmoccosin-Barnes added another 21 assists.
Suring vs. Wausaukee
Suring was defeated by Wausaukee in three sets, winning 22-25, 24-26 and 19-25 on Sept. 14. Suring was led by MaShya Seefeldt’s six service aces and 15 assists, while Lexis Remic added two service aces, two digs and three attack kills.
Oconto Falls vs. Denmark
The Oconto Falls Panthers defeated Denmark in three sets, winning 25-13, 25-16 and 25-12 on Sept. 14. The Panthers were led by Moynihan, who had 19 assists and nine digs. Izzy Otto added another seven assists. Amber Otto also recorded 13 kills, three aces and 10 digs.
