Witt-Birn girls win home track and field invitational

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School girls track and field team accumulated 150 points to win the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Invitational on May 2 in Wittenberg.

The Witt-Birn boys placed fourth with 91 points, while Bonduel came in fifth with 68 points. The Gresham/Bowler boys took seventh with 40½ points.

The Bonduel girls came in third with 108 points, while Gresham/Bowler was sixth with 34 points.

Reese Rogowski led the Witt-Birn girls team with first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash (12.9 seconds), 200 (26.34), 400 (58.4) and long jump (17 feet, 4 inches).

Jalynn Horacek, Allison Linke, Faith Resch and Kit Stewart teamed up for the top finish in the 4x100 relay (55.67). Horacek also won the triple jump (33-1¾).

Simon Schairer placed first in the 400 (53.96) to lead the Witt-Birn boys. Jacob Tomlinson was the top finisher in the shot put (41-8½).

Schairer was also on the 4x400 relay team that took first in 3:47.01. Alex Centeno, Connor Groshek and Craig Wendel filled out the team.

Bonduel's 4x800 boys relay team of Parker Perry, Ayden Dunst, Ben O'Brien and Karter Schroeder teamed up for first in 9:50.2.

Ashlyn Kurey was the top finisher in the girls 1,600 (5:52.65) for the Bears, while Gaven Vance won the boys 200 (23.71).

Gresham/Bowler's 4x200 girls relay team of Hannah Cerveny, Willow Demaskie, Valarie Cerveny and Ireland Jensen claimed first in 2:04.28.

Gresham/Bowler's Emmitt Kietlinski placed first in the boys high jump (6-0) and triple jump (42-6½).

Marion and Wolf River Lutheran also had athletes in action, but neither team had top-eight finishers to earn any team points.
