Witt-Birn boys golf team claims another top finish
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys golf team earned another first-place finish after posting the top team score at the May 4 Thornberry Creek Invite at Thornberry Creek at Oneida in Oneida.
Witt-Birn earned a score of 343, comfortably ahead of Manawa (373) and Laona/Wabeno (397). Bonduel (418) placed fifth, Marion (445) eighth and Menominee Indian/Gresham (468) ninth.
Ian Resch led the Chargers to their top finish after an 18-hole round of 79, tied for the best individual score on the day.
Calvin Scheurer fired a round of 80, while Maverick Beran shot an 87. Nolan Fraaza (97) and Pierson Potrykus (100) filled out the five-golfer team.
"Thornberry is a tough course and it was windy today, but I was very pleased with our play today," said Witt-Birn coach Chris Bartletti. "We still have to be better if we want to get to our goals, but we are moving in the right direction."
Cooper Uelmen carded a round of 91 to lead Bonduel on the course. Reed Luepke (100) and Jake Dreyer (105) finished second and third on the team, while Louis Hrabik (122) and Ayden Dunst (134) filled out the lineup.
Marion was led by Ellen Radies' round of 103, with Isaiah Gueths (105) two shots back. Quinn Tolan (115), Sam Gueths (122) and Kasey Roethle (144) were the other Mustangs on the course.
The Menominee Indian/Gresham co-op was guided by Saswaen Shawanokasic's round of 97. Bryson Nelson (120), Jake Hoffman (124), Will Jensen (127) and Jack Haffner (129) filled out the lineup.
