Witt-Birn, Bonduel, Oconto Falls, Clintonville unable to qualify any runners for state cross-country meet
Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Bonduel, Oconto Falls and Clintonville all had runners compete at the Division 2 Tomahawk Sectional on Saturday, but no teams or runners qualified for state.
The Witt-Birn boys competed as a team, taking fourth with a team score of 102. Freedom (31) and Little Chute (33) earned the state team spots after taking first and second.
Tommy Bruski led the way with an 18th-place finish in 17 minutes, 30.6 seconds. Simon Schairer came in 25th in 18:01.9.
Wyatt Dickman (18:26.2) took 31st and Craig Wendel (18:36.4) 34th. Nash Wojnowiak (18:42.2), Ian Resch (19:16.8) and Ian Salveson (20:09.8) placed 36th, 37th and 38th, respectively.
Bonduel had six individual runners in action.
On the girls side, Kara Troxel (20:33.9) took 11th place, while Ashlyn Kurey (20:40.5) was 12th.
Kalleigh Schroeder (21:32.8) and Breanna Schnell (22:26.4) were the other two girls runners, finishing 24th and 34th, respectively.
Jack Johnson and Cooper Uelmen represented the Bonduel boys. Johnson claimed 27th with a time of 18:20.1, while Uelmen was 35th in 18:40.2.
Joe Adams and Hannah Ludemann ran at the sectional for Oconto Falls.
Adams just missed out on qualifying for state with a ninth-place finish in 17:01.5. Ludemann placed 21st in 21:13.2.
Clintonville's Jesse Wilson also took part in the sectional, placing 20th in 17:41.
The Division 2 state meet will be held at Colby High School. Times for the races haven't been announced yet.
