GIRLS BASKETBALL

Suring 47

Coleman 42

Suring rallied from an early deficit and held on late for a thrilling Marinette & Oconto Conference victory over Coleman on Friday in Suring.

Kylee Stelzer led Suring, totaling 24 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals. She also took a charge with nine seconds left and Coleman down just three points.

Paige Krueger added nine points and grabbed five rebounds for Suring, while Kelsey Smith pulled down 14 rebounds. Kate Mahoney hit a pair of clutch 3-pointers in the final five minutes of play.

“I’m so proud of the way we fought the entire game. Down nine early and in a lot of foul trouble, it would have been easy to stop playing hard, but the girls didn’t back down," said Suring coach Mitch Woulf. "Kylee played every minute tonight and was constantly getting hacked and diving all over the floor. Kelsey was an animal on the boards. It was great to see Kate Mahoney come up with two huge 3s. The time she puts in outside of practice is admirable, and it paid off in a huge way tonight. It was a great team win. Every girl who played understood their role, and them executing their goal played a large part in the win tonight.”
