Wyoming

Oconto Falls High School graduate Dewey Krueger earned the deciding win during Wyoming’s 18-13 road dual victory over Oregon State on Jan. 31.

Krueger won an 8-3 decision, scoring the final five points in the match.

Krueger was ranked No. 31 in the 157-pound weight class of the latest rankings provided by theopenmat.com.

UW-Eau Claire

Suring graduate Mitch Stegeman placed fourth in the men’s heptathlon for the UW-Eau Claire track and field team at the Warren Bowlus Multi and Open in Menomonie on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.

Stegeman came in first in the 1,000-meter run (2 minutes, 52.66 seconds) and tied for second in the pole vault (13 feet, 11.25 inches).

The freshman took seventh in the 60 hurdles (9.29), high jump (5-11.25) and long jump (19-3.5). He was 10th in the 60 dash (7.68) and 12th in the shot put (32-7.75).

Overall, Stegeman earned 4,445 points for his fourth-place finish.

St. Norbert

Oconto Falls graduates Aaron Gonnering and Emily Gonnering each competed in a pair of events for the St. Norbert track and field teams in Whitewater on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.

The men’s team competed in the “Squig” Converse Invitational and Multi on Jan. 31. Aaron Gonnering was on the men’s 4x200 relay team that placed fourth in 1:38.23. He also took 36th in the 200 dash (24.75).

The St. Norbert women competed in the Warhawk Classic Invitational and Multi on Feb. 1. Emily Gonnering finished 40th in the shot put (26-7.25) and 50th in the weight throw (27-11.5).

Viterbo

Gillett graduate Lauren Herzog ran in two events for the Viterbo women’s track and field team at the Warren Bowlus Multi and Open.

Herzog placed 11th in the 800 (2:47.01) and 19th in the 1-mile (6:09.29).

Ripon

Suring graduate Ryan Mahoney saw action in two games for the Ripon men’s basketball team over the past week.

In two minutes of action, Mahoney tallied a steal and scored two points in Ripon’s 83-54 win over Monmouth on Jan. 31. He played three minutes in the team’s 104-71 win over Grinnell on Feb. 1.
